In the hotel industry, ongoing training is essential for success. Constantly welcoming new staff, providing them with necessary tools, and focusing on upskilling the management team are key challenges. Emphasizing career advancement and improving life opportunities for staff and their families is fulfilling. Like most things in life, if you can have a curious mindset and a positive outlook, you have much of what you need to be successful. I have tried to combine these two attributes with hard work, which has served me well. A mentor of mine, at a key moment in my career, told me that everyone can make mistakes, the key is to not make the same mistake twice. I have embraced this advice and learnt to be quick to forgive myself and others for mistakes, but I insist we learn and grow as a result.
