At the InterContinental Bangkok, dining revolves around exceptional food quality and creativity. Our offerings range from the fine dining of Fireplace Grill & Bar to the casual Californian-inspired SoCal, highlighting our chefs' expertise and high-quality ingredients. SoCal, the city's unique Californian restaurant, has garnered acclaim from locals, tourists, and expats. We also feature the premier Cantonese cuisine at Summer Palace and the diverse international buffet at Espresso. InterContinental hotels have historically hosted significant events, from the first League of Nations assembly in Cannes to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. finalizing his iconic speech in Washington D.C. The InterContinental Bangkok upholds this legacy, frequently welcoming dignitaries and business leaders. It boasts renovated meeting spaces with advanced technology, including Bangkok's only 4K LED screen. The hotel offers extensive, flexible event facilities, professional planning services, and a dedicated Wedding Studio for personalized, memorable occasions.

How has your experience been since your last visit to Bangkok? Have there been changes in the hotel industry? Did you discover anything new this time?

The hotel scene in Bangkok is incredibly competitive, and this has intensified over the six years I was away. New entrants have challenged established players, elevating standards. Fortunately, the newly refurbished InterContinental Bangkok positions us at the forefront of quality and technology. Our product innovations and sophisticated design ensure we remain competitive in the coming years.

What's the most challenging part of managing your hotel, and how do you address it?

In the hotel industry, ongoing training is essential for success. Constantly welcoming new staff, providing them with necessary tools, and focusing on upskilling the management team are key challenges. Emphasizing career advancement and improving life opportunities for staff and their families is fulfilling. A core belief in genuine hospitality, particularly Thailand's heartfelt approach, guides the mission to treat every guest as unique, prioritizing their needs through sophisticated management of guest preferences and comprehensive training, ensuring a universally high standard of service.

What would you recommend to someone visiting Bangkok for the first time and staying at your hotel?

I recommend first-time visitors find a balance during their stay in Bangkok. It's easy to immerse yourself in shopping, cultural experiences, and city hotspots. However, it's also important to allocate time for relaxation and self-care, as Bangkok offers excellent wellness options. Don't feel guilty about taking slower mornings or pampering yourself. InterContinental Bangkok's prime location in Ratchaprasong, surrounded by retail, commercial, and cultural sites, makes it an ideal base. The hotel's convenient location offers easy access to transportation, shopping districts, and landmarks, ensuring a fulfilling visit to this vibrant city.

Do you have any advice on how to be successful in this business?

Like most things in life, if you can have a curious mindset and a positive outlook, you have much of what you need to be successful.  I have tried to combine these two attributes with hard work, which has served me well. A mentor of mine, at a key moment in my career, told me that everyone can make mistakes, the key is to not make the same mistake twice. I have embraced this advice and learnt to be quick to forgive myself and others for mistakes, but I insist we learn and grow as a result.
