The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon - Not That Standard
"Our growth appetite is as strong if not stronger than ever."
The wait is finally over for those who were wondering which hotel brand would finally find its home in the Iconic Mahanakhon Building. After a few false starts, Thailand finally welcomed (the) Standard, the first urban flagship property from the brand Standard.
Even before the official opening date, The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon has already started creating a big buzz around town.
"Frankly, we expect a lot. We are striving to introduce both a unique and new product to the market – from our design which differs from traditional luxury hotels, to an elevated Mexican dining concept never before seen in Thailand at Ojo (our rooftop restaurant). And we think we’ve succeeded. Ojo and Mott32 are fully booked for weeks in advance (and months months in advance for weekend bookings). Rooms have picked up beyond expectations, and there is a great buzz and wonderful feedback from both media/critics and guests alike.
For both Bangkokians and tourists alike, there are many new places to hang out. We never think of our F&B venues as amenities to the hotel; they must all be strong standalone concepts" said, Boripat Louichareon, Managing Director of Standard Asia, President of Sansiri (US).
The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon consists of 155 rooms and suites, a one-of-a-kind culinary programming at six food and beverage spaces, meeting venues that break the mold, and a 24-hour fitness center that provides the option of an exclusive Standard gym membership.
After the successful opening of The Standard, Hua Hin - And now of The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon, the brand's appetite is stronger than ever.
"Our growth appetite is as strong if not stronger than ever. We’ve only just started expanding internationally (outside of the US) in the past few years. And our growth opportunities are still pretty much endless. We also have a successful range of products – urban, resort, urban retreat, branded residences, and planning for altitude/ski – which further expand our growth opportunities" he added.
Naturally with the parent company Sansiri PLC being a Thai company, the strategy is to expand more in Thailand.
"There’re a few more destinations in Thailand into which we'd like to expand - Pattaya, Phuket, Samui, Chiang Mai, to name a few" said, Boripat Louichareon.
Created in partnership with King Power Group and Sansiri, The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon will be The Standard’s Asia flagship and a world-class destination across the globe. It sure will be a good addition to the Bangkok's scene.
