Mr. Peter Henley, President and CEO, ONYX Hospitality Group, recently led the opening ceremony of the Tallest Macaron Christmas Tree in town, organised by Mr. Sukamal Mondal, General Manager of Oriental Residence Bangkok. The aim for designing this macaron Christmas tree is to raise money for the Ranger’s Fund to support Freeland’s Surviving Together Programme, in order to help them with their goal to protect and conserve biodiversity. The event welcomed many celebrities and young socialites of Bangkok.  Set at the lobby of Oriental Residence Bangkok, the ceremony was bustling with guests who wished to purchase delicious Café Claire macarons sold at the counter. All proceeds will go to the charity mentioned above. There was also a live jazz band playing, as guests mingled with free-flowing drinks and conversations before and after the tallest macaron tree in town was revealed.

Sukamal, the General Manager of Oriental Residence Bangkok wanted to offer more than just a traditional tree but a tree of happiness, with his love for Macaron and  pastel color palette he and his team had put an effort to build the Tallest Macaron Tree in three and half  months of making. The Macaron Tree is 4.5 metres high and 1.80 metres wide with a total of 10,000 macarons used**. These macarons are made up of almond powder at 13.875 kg., icing powder at 13.875 kg., white eggs at 11.10 kg., white sugar 11.10 kg.,** and 7 bottles of food colouring. The Macarons Christmas Tree presents 8 pastel-toned colours including pink, dark pink, green pastel, yellow pastel, violet pastel, orange pastel, gold and silver.

There will be macarons for sale at 50 THB per piece at Café Claire, located on the Lobby Level of Oriental Residence Bangkok, until end of January 2016 where all proceeds will go to charity.
