Outrigger Hotels and Resorts today announced the acquisition of Honua Kai Resort & Spa’s on-site resort rental program interests from affiliates of Alterra Mountain Company. The move highlights Outrigger’s commitment to increasing and enhancing its global portfolio, which includes 37 owned and/or managed hotels, resorts and vacation condominiums in Hawaii, Fiji, Thailand, Guam, Mauritius and the Maldives.
Honua Kai is a spectacular 38-acre oceanfront condo resort located on Maui’s renowned Ka anapali North Beach – offering luxurious studio, one, two and three-bedroom suites alongside full-service concierge, Ho ola Spa and Duke’s Beach House restaurant. The resort is expanding with a build-out of 72 luxury townhomes, scheduled for completion in 2020. All units previously managed by Alterra Mountain Company will operate under Hawaii Vacation Condos by Outrigger, effective immediately.
“With Hawaii consistently ranked as one of the world’s premier vacation destinations – our realigned growth strategy includes substantial investment in our home market for both owned and managed operations,” said Jeff Wagoner, president and CEO of Outrigger Hotels and Resorts. “Honua Kai is a meticulously maintained luxury property that’s impeccably aligned with Outrigger’s family friendly, beachfront brand – we’re delighted to have this new offering for our guests to enjoy.”
“Honua Kai Resort & Spa is an oceanfront gem and it has been an honor to be part of its success, said Rusty Gregory, CEO of Alterra Mountain Company. “While we have decided to refocus our overall business efforts elsewhere, we’re certain that Outrigger will continue to manage the property with the care and attention it deserves.”
Honua Kai Resort & Spa is now the largest Maui property in this portfolio and it will be marketed alongside Outrigger’s hotels and resorts through its extensive global sales and marketing network.
