Having been in the industry for over 30 years, Indonesian born Syahereza Ishwara has traversed the globe during his career. He has moved between properties across Indonesia, Texas, USA, to Langkawi Malaysia and Thailand. Syahereza has been with Anantara Chiangmai Resort and Anantara Chiang Mai Serviced Suites since 2014. Prior to that he was the General Manager at the Four Seasons Hotel, Rayavadee. During his career, he has opened many hotels and convention centers around the region.

What’s the most challenging aspect of running your hotel?

The most challenging aspect of running my hotel is being able to motivate my team to maintain consistency and quality in their performances and service delivered to our guests in every aspect of our operations.

What do you like most about being in hotels?

What inspires me most about being in the hotel industry are:

Enthusiasm about various facets of daily operations as well as any special projects undertaken;

My interaction and relationship with team members;

Meeting and working with guests from all over the world;
Running the business as if it were my own hotel;

You have a number of high end/luxury Chinese guests. Can you share with us why they choose to stay with you? What do you do differently that cause Chinese guests pick you over others?
