The Hotelier Awards China, a ceremony which honours the dedicated professionals of the hotel industry, held the 2015 edition on Thursday 10th December at Four Seasons Hotel, Beijing. Over 300 hoteliers and industry professionals gathered in the grand ballroom to await the announcement of this year’s award winners.

The Hotelier Awards received up to 300 applications from over 100 properties from 44 different brands. Winners of each category were decided by the judging panel through a two-round process and based on a combination of facts presented in the application, interviews, and testimonials.

The 18 awards were presented by one of the judges alongside a representative from the sponsoring companies, which included Nespresso, DUX, ScentAir, Technogym and TORRES. The judging panel was comprised of experts who, between them, hold a significant amount of industry specific skills and knowledge. Those judges were, Yona He – Senior Vice President, Asia Pacific – Forbes Travel Guide, Jingsheng Xu – The General Secretary of National Hotel Association, China, Alison Gilmore – Senior Exhibition Director – International Luxury Travel Market (ILTM), Dr. Sacha Stöcklin – Campus Director – Les Roches Shanghai and Zita Ong – CEO and Board Member – Edipresse Media Asia.

Taking home the “General Manager of the Year” award was Andrew Rogers, Multi-Property Vice President and General Manager of The Ritz-Carlton Beijing, Financial Street. “I look at our roles and responsibilities; to find the best people, select them, bring them into the team and set them up for success. It makes me very very proud to accept this award on behalf of my team, myself and the Ritz-Carlton.

Co-Founder Benoit Thebaut noted on the night that “We are here tonight to celebrate your hard work and your achievements. We are here to shine a light on the hospitality industry and the numerous job opportunities it will create in the years to come.” The hotel industry is the ultimate people business and The Hotelier Awards China will continue to draw attention to the hardworking professionals of this industry, giving them the recognition and praise that they deserve. As a result, the Hotelier Awards is proud to announce that in 2016 it will expand its scope into the ASEAN region. This competition will cover Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines to name a few countries.
