Even though Hong Kong has business hotels scattered throughout every nook and cranny, from experience the fact that they call themselves ‘Business Hotels’ means that you are expecting a certain drop in service level and general amenities at the hotel. I was pleasantly surprised when I recently had the opportunity to stay at Ozo Wesley, Hong Kong. It turns out that you can actually have it all. Ozo has all location, service, great rates and you also get a comfortable night’s sleep.
Ozo guests are generally businessmen and women. There was a distinct lack of tour groups which in turn meant that there was a very relaxed, chilled out atmosphere at the breakfast buffet in the morning sans screaming, haggling and no kids running around.
Ozo Westley, Hong Kong is a business hotel where the designers seem to have had a good think about what it actually is that business travelers wand and need. Business travelers like simplicity and efficiency. They deliver all of this but take it to a new level by wrapping it with service that was in my opinion on par with other five-star hotels in the area.
It is a medium sized hotel with a lot of guests, but it never felt crowded.
Location is also another selling point. The hotel is a minute walk to Pacific Place and Admiralty station, and a few minute walks to Wan Chai station and shopping and the trendy Star Street which has become famous for it’s funky bars, cafes and restaurants.
The hotel has comfortable guest rooms where you can sleep, work, and relax. I love that the room is functional. In all of the rooms, aside from a nice big bed, you have a comfortable divan built into the bay window area so that you can sit and work or read under the natural daylight, or just watch life going on below. If you have extra luggage, it also serves as another great storage area in the room for bags and clothes.
Although it is business hotel and internet is free, I found the Internet could be unstable and slow.
Great location. Only a two walk to the Admiralty MTR station and four minutes walk from Wanchai station. You are a few minutes walk from the famous Pacific Place shopping center and Queensway Plaza for those who love to shop. From Admiralty, its one stop to Wanchai and one stop to Central. It’s actually possible to walk there too rather than taking the train.
If you’re into trying local restaurants, you can either walk down into the heart of Wanchai, or for something more hip, try Star Street and Sheep Street. Both are just a stone’s throw away from the hotel.
The location is absolutely what makes Ozo Wesley stand out
Ozo Wesley Hong Kong provides everything you need for your business trip and more. The hotel gets the prize for the smallest refrigerator that I have ever seen in a hotel. While it’s small, it is a little loud and one night when it was cool enough to sleep without the air conditioner, I found myself unplugging the refrigerator to let me get a better sleep.
There is also a work station desk that is adjustable so that you can even bring it over your bed and work, or sit by the large bay window. The room has a ‘chilling corner’ by the window, a TV and the bathroom is fully equipped with all the amenities that you would expect as a business traveler.
There is a sufficient gym with brand new equipment ; treadmills, stationary bikes, weights and more. Avoid peak hours (7-9 am) as the gym size is not so spacious and it seams that all the business travelers are trying to get their run in before they star their day.
There is only one F&B ‘location’ in the hotel ‘Zaan’ where you have breakfast. You don’t really need more than that however as there is food every couple of metres in that area as you walk down the street. The hotel also has snacks available from a little vending area around reception in the lobby.
Breakfast provided for guests is quite average. Standard breakfast menu; omelet, salads, breads, cheese, ham and bacon, cereal, congee, dim sum, fresh juice, and coffee and tea.
The hotel offers daily wow drinks and doze off drinks at breakfast and at the lobby area. Rather than providing wine or champagne that some people might not drink, the hotel has come up with some regionally inspired herbal drinks for their guests. The ingredients have been specifically chosen to relax the guests through natural ingredients including ginseng, citrus and ginger.
Staff are helpful and friendly. I love the fact that the hotel provides special tea at the lobby in the evening for guests. It’s really just a cup of tea but it says a lot about the brand.
I can’t think of any other business hotels that can offer what Ozo Wesley can in that area. Great location, comfortable stay, affordable and good hospitality..
