When traveling abroad, travelers are often torn between staying in a big hotel chain for its location or experiencing local culture with a small boutique hotel, which in many cases might not be in the city center. In a city like Bangkok, you would like to have the best of both and we found the perfect choice for you. Hua Chang Heritage is located near a shopping district, yet hidden near a canal in a colonial style building.
It was meant to be a Thai hotel with a modern twist; however, the interior doesn’t quite look right. Decorating the beautiful colonial building you find fake crystal chandeliers, while cookie cutter furniture pieces make the place look that little bit less charming.
The design may have gone slightly awry but Hua Chang Heritage offers a spacious room with modern facilities; washlet, 3D room control panel, entertainment system, and an open bath.
Although it’s not a large hotel, guests can relax by the pool, which is shaded by the surrounding tress so it makes you feel kind of close to nature even though you’re in the city.
Located in the heart of a shopping district surrounded by malls, the hotel is heaven for a shopper. Siam Discovery, Siam Center, Siam Paragon, MBK, Siam Square and the retail shopping district of Pratunam are all close at hand, while there are also BTS and MRT stations within walking distance.
It is crucial for tourists to have easy access to both MRT and BTS because it makes life so much easier without having to deal with the unpredictable Bangkok traffic.
Modern facilities are provided in the guest rooms. Free internet is offered for 2 devices, while people like myself with 3 or 4 devices can also ask reception for the password. Although the internet can be a little slow and not always stable, if you were on vacation it probably wouldn’t matter.
Hua Chang Heritage definitely nails it when it comes to food and beverage. Unlike chefs at other hotels who will compromise by adjusting their recipes to match your taste buds, Chef Bombay believes in a classic recipe. He makes food orgasmic in so many ways.
The lunch set here is highly recommended. It is a Thai food set that is well prepared and beautifully presented in an old-style way. In Thailand, Thais will typically have a meal set instead of just ordering stand-alone dishes. However, a lot of hotels have an à la carte menu so you get to see tourists unwittingly order Tom Yum and eat that on its own; here you get to eat Tom Yum with rice, in combination with many other dishes which have been carefully selected and created by Chef Bombay.
Trying cocktails is one of my favorite things to do in hotels and Hua Chang Heritage does impress me with their cocktails. There are standard cocktails and signature cocktails available for you to try.
Average. Since it is a boutique hotel with only 80 rooms you could expect so much more from the service.
Great location for those who enjoy shopping and love to be in a vibrant area. For people who like to experience authentic Thai food, I really recommend it. You wouldn’t get such an experience elsewhere at the same price and the chef really does know what he’s talking about..
