Bangkok has recently welcomed Amara, a Singapore-based hotel investment and management group, into the City of Angels. While one might wonder whether Bangkok truly needs any more hotels and why Amara would contemplate entering such a competitive 5 star market, Albert Teo, the CEO of Amara Holdings, firmly believes that Bangkok is the place to be.
“Before entering into a new market, the management conducts rigorous market studies and due diligence to understand the operating environment, risk, and market outlook as well as financial returns before committing resources. Bangkok’s tourism is forecasted at 29 million foreign visitors this year, increasing from last year, and the Discover Thainess Campaign will also help to improve Bangkok’s room rates, and help develop transport and tourism infrastructure, and Amara is poised to benefit from that,” explained Albert.
Amara Bangkok represents an initial expansion beyond the company’s Singapore base, with a new hotel set to follow in Shanghai within the year. The Bangkok property is a stylish new 250-room hotel designed to be an exciting lifestyle hotel for both business and leisure travelers. Located in the heart of the vibrant neighborhood of Surawong, adjacent to Silom and Sathorn Roads in Bangkok’s Central Business District, the hotel also offers direct access to some of the city’s most popular shopping and nightlife.
The hotel is also conveniently positioned near two BTS Skytrain stations – Chong Nonsi and Sala Daeng. Making access even easier, the hotel’s custom-made air-conditioned Tuk Tuk is freely available to shuttle guests to Chong Nonsi BTS.
When asked if the property might be heavily reliant upon the leisure market and big visitor groups, Albert explained that the hotel is ideal for business travelers as well as leisure guests. “Amara Bangkok’s central location makes it one of the most attractive new hotels in Bangkok. Surawong road runs parallel to Silom Road which is the hub of Bangkok’s business and financial district making it attractive to business travelers. With four meetings rooms we provide a one-stop solution to save traveling time and cost.”
“We are confident that Amara Bangkok, with its personalized service, our unique offerings, and our experience in the hotel business, will do well.”
